The Senior Therapeutic Youth Support will provide supportive services to youth and families across one or more of Advocates’ CBHI service lines. Service lines include In Home Therapy, Therapeutic Mentoring, and In Home Behavioral Services. This team member will offer structured, strength-based support services to youth for the purpose of addressing daily living, social, and communication needs. Services may be provided independently, or in collaboration with clinicians or other providers. The Senior Therapeutic Youth Support will be a leader on the CBHI Team, and will hold additional responsibilities in support of colleagues and the functioning of the team as a whole.

Minimum Education Required

High School Diploma/GED

Responsibilities

  • Engage youth in social, recreational, athletic, and artistic activities in the community.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of Individual Action Plans or Behavior Action Plans.
  • Assist in providing intensive family therapy.
  • Identify community resources and develop natural supports for youth and parent/guardian/caregiver
  • Assist in providing care coordination
  • Provide coaching in support of decision making in both crisis and non-crisis situations.
  • Provide skills training for youth and parent/caregiver/guardian
  • Provide member transportation as needed in connection with service delivery.
  • Participate in Risk management/safety planning.
  • Complete all required documentation in a timely manner.

 

The Senior Therapeutic Youth Support will assist in supporting the team in a variety of ways, which may include some of the following:

  • Lead group supervision or other groups.
  • Facilitate or co-facilitate staff trainings.
  • Assist with outreach to families waiting for services.
  • Assist with new staff training and orientation, including mentorship, training, and ad hoc support.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling or related field required with one year minimum experience working with children, adolescents, or families  OR high school diploma and three years of experience working with children, adolescents, or families
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • High energy level, superior interpersonal skills and ability to function in a team atmosphere.
  • Commitment to Advocates values and mission.
  • Must hold a valid drivers’ license.  Must have access to an operational and insured vehicle and be willing to use it to transport members.
  • Ability to read and speak English.
