$4,000 SIGN ON BONUS

Starting salary: $67,000-70,000

The Senior Clinician is accountable for the clinical treatment and oversight of Worcester Jail and House of Correction (WHOC), delegation of daily tasks, training of new hires, and the internship program. They ensure compliance with all statutes, regulations and contractual requirements. The Senior Clinician also functions as a Mental Health Clinician within the department.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all statutes, regulations and contractual requirements related to mental health care within the jail.
  • In conjunction with the Mental Health Director (MHD) and Assistant Mental Health Director (AMHD), ensure the adequacy and appropriateness of clinical care across the institution.
  •  Provide guidance to all staff around treatment interventions to inmates served at WHOC. This can include providing focused leadership, supervision, and support to these clinicians.
  •  Monitor completion of daily tasks by being aware of clinicians’ schedules and delegating tasks as needed.
  •  Triage and delegate sick slip requests and crisis contacts to clinicians.
  •  Attend to phone messages in shared clinician office.
  • Provide group supervision to mental health interns.
  • In conjunction with the MHD, organize and provide trainings on evidence based treatments within WHOC.
  •  In conjunction with the MHD and AMHD, continue to improve relationships with correctional staff and administration with the jail.
  •  Participate in trainings of correctional officers, non-correctional staff and administration as requested/needed.
  •  Assume administrative responsibilities if the MHD or AMHD are off site.

Qualifications

  • Masters or doctoral degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Mental Health Counseling.
  •  Massachusetts independent practice licensure in Social Work, Psychology, or Mental Health Counseling preferred.
  •  Demonstrated understanding of and competence in serving clinically and culturally diverse populations
  •  At least 2 years of prior experience working within forensic mental health.
  •  Personnel management experience and demonstrated commitment to maintaining effective communication with staff and customers to facilitate and promote effective working relationships and customer service
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to read and speak English.
