Overview

The Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides team-based clinical support and oversees clozapine clinic for the CCBHC. The NP works with CCBHC participants who have serious mental illness, substance use disorders, co-occurring substance use disorders, and/or serious emotional disturbances. The NP provides assessment, treatment, and medical management to CCBHC participants and oversight of nursing staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provide medical and psychiatric services and consultation to CCBHC participants.
  • Conduct primary care screenings and other CCBHC physical health service.
  • Monitor adverse effects of medication.
  • Develop and oversee clozapine clinic.
  • Participate in training and supervision on the CCBHC’s identified Evidence-Based Practices (EBPs) and provide outpatient treatment consistent with these practices.
  • Train, oversee, and implement all EBPs including Screen, Test, Immunize, Reduce Risk, Refer with the medical team.
  • Engage individuals in participating in other CCBHC services, E.g. Peer Support, Recovery Coaching, Care Management, Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services, Social Support Opportunities, and Community Recovery Supports.
  • Provide teaching and consultation to other members of the Integrated Treatment Teams.
  • Actively participate in the Quality Improvement process of the CCBHC.
  • Maintain all records in accordance with the policies and procedures of the CCBHC.
  • Practice in general accordance with the treatment philosophy of the CCBHC.
  • Maintain open, collaborative, and collegial relationships with internal and external team members.
  • Attend trainings as assigned; maintain necessary certifications required by Advocates.
  • Maintain valid CNS/NP certifications.

Qualifications

 

  • Master’s or Doctoral degree from an accredited nursing program.
  • Licensed in the Commonwealth of MA as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PSMH-BC)
  • ANCC Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) - Board Certification. Other board certifications may meet requirements if significant relevant experience with psychiatric assessment and treatment.
  • Current, valid and unrestricted DEA certificate.
  • Satisfactory report from the National Practitioner Data Bank.
  • Absence of Medicare/Medicaid sanctions.
  • Strongly prefer candidate who has demonstrated understanding of/competence in serving culturally diverse populations.
  • Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Ability to read and speak English. Bi/trilingual (Spanish/Portuguese)
