    As the Medical Director, you will be responsible for the medical clinical and administration of the Behavioral Health Services including outpatient clinics, emergency services and crisis stabilization program.  This hands-on and practicing role oversees medical staff including physicians, physician’s assistants and nurses; directs clinical services to clients of Advocates Community Counseling and Psychiatric Emergency Services; consults and teaches clinical services staff and Senior Management Team.

    Responsibilities

    • Oversee medical activities and medical personnel in Advocates Community Counseling clinics and satellites, Emergency Services and Crisis Stabilization Programs.
    • Provide medical, psychiatric and medico-legal consultation and training to clinical services staff as appropriate.
    • Provide clinical supervision and annual performance appraisals of medical staff.
    • Provide clinical and administrative supervision to the Medical Director of the Psychiatric Emergency Services.
    • Provide face-to-face emergency evaluations, on site at the Psychiatric Emergency Service or as part of mobile outreach.
    • Work jointly with the Director of Psychiatric Emergency Services to fulfill licensing and insurance regulations as well as contractual requirements.
    • Provides direct services, treatment and medical management to clients of Community Counseling and Crisis Stabilization programs.
    • Perform physical intervention in the event of a client crisis.
    • Establish and maintain medical and psychiatric policies and procedures. Maintain compliance with all accreditation boards; state, federal and insurance regulations regarding psychiatric service provision and medication prescription.
    • Ensure medical staff are adhering to financial and contractual obligations for the management and health of the programs.
    • Recruit and hire staff psychiatrists and nurse practitioners in conjunction with management staff.
    • Ensure adequate psychiatric coverage and standards are met in all agency programs.
    • Identify agency, service and program needs, develops new services, and designs system of care.
    • Assist with the development of affiliations and strategic alliances with community, state and private organizations.
    • Participate in agency Strategic Planning.

    Qualifications

    • Doctorate of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school.  Board certified in Psychiatry with five years’ clinical and administrative experience.  Current, valid, unrestricted DEA certificate and license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
    • Ability to maintain professional liability insurance coverage of a minimum of $1-3M.
    • Exemplary written and verbal communication skills, enthusiastic approach, ability to exercise solid judgement and decisions.
    • Must hold a valid driver's license and have access to an operational, insured vehicle.
    • Strongly prefer a candidate that will have a demonstrated understanding of and competence in serving culturally diverse populations.
