    The Fiscal Assistant is responsible for the accurate and timely census information for the Adult Family Care (AFC) claims billing.  Provide overall clerical support to the Adult Family Care and Shared Living teams and maintain efficient and accurate office procedures.

    Days of the Week



    First Shift


    • Resolve billing issues by gathering, verifying and providing additional information as required to the Senior Billing Coordinator, such as authorization from Commonwealth Care Alliance (CCA), Senior Whole Health (SWH), Tufts Network and other contracted agencies, as well as obtaining PCP referral numbers for AFC assessments.
    • Collaborate with the fiscal department on Mass Health billing, verify eligibility and process check requests.
    • Regularly cross-check the SDR billing against the electronic record for incorrect level billed, discharges, NMLOA/MLOA.
    • Provide information to Advocates’ fiscal department for any internal or external audits, such as annual Mass Health AFC Cost report.
    • Follow up with other agencies regarding current coverage and services provided.
    • Complete phone screening assessments, provide program information and verify insurance for referred member and their families.
    • Maintain, arrange and order office and medical supplies for conferences and Caregiver meetings. 
    • Perform clerical duties such as typing, filing, faxing, mail management, and meeting notes.  Maintain written and verbal correspondence with members and caregivers.
    • Collaborate with the AFC and Shared Living team on organizing special program events, conferences’, presentations and coordination of logistics for all team events.


    • High school diploma and a minimum of one year of administrative and fiscal experience.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication.
    • Strong computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office products and ability to type 50+ words per minute.
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where priorities may shift quickly.
    • Must hold a valid driver's license, have access to an operational and insured vehicle and be willing to use it to transport clients.
    • Strongly prefer a candidate that will have a demonstrated understanding of and competence in serving culturally diverse populations.
