  • Overview

    The Direct Care Staff is responsible for providing assistance to program participants with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), household management and community-based shopping or appointments; working closely with family members and others to support the program participant to progress toward more independent community living.

    Responsibilities

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Assist residents with all Activities of Daily Living, including showering, dressing, grooming, toileting, mobility, feeding, taking medications, and Range of Motion (ROM) exercises, both in the home and in the community.
    • Assist residents with home management, and community activities, following goals in the annual service plan.
    • Assist program participants with taking medications in accordance with MAP regulations.
    • Respond promptly to program participants’ requests for assistance.
    • Assist with teaching appropriate social and independent living skills.
    • Encourage program participants’ to perform tasks as independently as possible, assisting them to participate in all activities to the maximum extent possible.

    Qualifications

    • A high school diploma or equivalent.  One year’s experience in providing direct care preferably with people who have cognitive disabilities, preferred. 
    • Ability to understand, speak, read and write fluent English.
    • Strongly prefer that a candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of and competence in serving culturally diverse populations.
    • Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
    • High energy level and ability to function in a team atmosphere.
    • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and ability to use good judgment.
    • Sensitivity to the needs of the individuals we support  
    • Ability to perform basic computer functions.
    • Must have a valid driver’s license and access to an operational and insured vehicle in addition to willingness to use it to transport residents.

    Sun 3pm-11pm, Mon 11pm-7am, Tue 11pm-7am, Thurs 11pm-7am, Friday 11pm-7am
