Advocates is seeking a Family Support Worker for our Family Resource Center!

 

The Cape Cod Family Resource Center is located in Hyannis and supports families with a wide range of challenges. We are committed to providing a welcoming and affirming environment. Our creative and passionate team helps families connect to supports, access resources, and navigate challenges. The Family Support Worker is responsible for providing information, community resources and referrals to individuals and families, completing intakes and screenings, and representing the program at various events in the community.

Minimum Education Required

High School Diploma/GED

Responsibilities

  • Provide information and educational resources to family members in addition to providing referrals to community resources
  • Complete intake and screening of individuals and families
  • Host Parent and Youth Support groups and activities
  • Assist the family and community in understanding the scope and services of the program.
  • Ensure youth and family voice and choice is implemented in service delivery
  • Become familiar with systemic issues facing individuals and families and provide ongoing monitoring of community needs
  • Utilize basic knowledge of child-serving systems and processes (DCF, DYS, DMH, etc.)
  • Responsible for upkeep and organization of individual and family records

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED and a minimum of one (1) year of experience working with the target population; or navigating any of the child and family serving systems and teaching family members who are involved with the child and family serving systems
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • High energy level, superior interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a team atmosphere
  • Commitment to Advocates values and mission
  • Strongly prefer a candidate that will have a demonstrated understanding of and competence in serving culturally diverse populations
  • Advocates considers lived experience (personal or familial) with the mental health system a valuable asset
