Overview

*Hourly Rate: $54.00*

The Director of Health Services will oversee and coordinate health care related activities across the Developmental Residential Services division in conjunction with the Vice President of Health Services, DS/BI.  They will supervise and support nurses, health services, and staff working in the Division to ensure quality across the division and fulfill all essential job functions.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee division-wide, cross program health decisions and operations including, but not limited to, eligibility, service authorizations, health protocols, medication administration oversight and clinical review of occurrences.
  • Serve as a MAP Consultant for the DS residential division and assist with monthly trainings for residential managers at their monthly meeting.
  • Provide supervision, mentoring, training and professional development opportunities for nursing staff in the DS residential division.
  • Promote client satisfaction by delivering excellent services, quality outcomes, and continuous performance improvement throughout the division.
  • Maintain high quality of health service operations standards while maximizing cost efficacy.
  • Serve as a nurse leader of the DS residential division to advise on all healthcare related and nursing needs.
  • Provide monthly supervision to each direct report, meeting with full DS nursing team quarterly, and assist with facilitating monthly DS nursing meetings.
  • Conduct regular communication sessions with staff, management and external stakeholders to advise and inform people about issues related to health services.
  • Assist with on call consultation via phone to program staff regarding medication and health related issues as needed.
  • Provide follow-up instructions to program staff involved in medication and occurrences and health services incidents.
  • Assist with health-related trainings and other related approved classes as needed with the training department.
  • Network with other health care professionals and providers within program communities.
  • Provide on-site support to program managers and program nurses by assisting in the development of strategies to address the special needs of individuals with a variety of acute and chronic health issues.
  • Attend, as needed, post hospitalization discharge meetings.
  • Maintain all required trainings, certifications and licenses current and up to date.
  • Provide direct nursing care only in special circumstances and for a limited amount of time when attempts to engage VNA or other generic/external health care systems have been exhausted.
  • Ensure that individuals we support are treated with dignity and respect in accordance with Advocates’ Human Rights policy and Advocates Way Philosophy.
  • Attend, initiate and actively participate in supervision and staff meetings.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with the agency’s policies and procedures.

 

 

Qualifications

  • B.S in Nursing and must possess a current, state of MA, registration in nursing.
  • Five years of experience in a community health care setting.
  • One year experience in supervising staff.
  • Strongly prefer that a candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of and competence in serving culturally diverse populations.
  • Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Must have sensitivity to the needs of the population.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong computer knowledge.
  • High energy level, superior interpersonal skills and ability to function in a team atmosphere.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal. 
  • Must hold a valid drivers’ license.  Must have access to an operational and insured vehicle and be willing to use it to transport consumers.
