The Senior Payroll Analyst is a strategic contributor to payroll operations, responsible for end-to-end payroll processing, reporting, and payroll data analysis. This role provides cross-functional support to HR, Finance, and Compliance, using payroll expertise and data insights to drive accuracy, efficiency, and regulatory adherence.

 

This is a hybrid position, but employees are expected to report to the office on specific dates determined by the manager. These dates will be communicated in advance to support collaboration, training, or key business activities.  This position requires a minimum of 4 days in office. 


Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:30am-5pm

Responsibilities

  1. Manage bi-weekly payroll cycles from data collection to final submission, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  2. Conduct audits of payroll and time data to identify discrepancies and areas for process improvement.
  3. Provide analytical and reporting support for payroll-related projects and initiatives.
  4. Generate bi-weekly and ad-hoc payroll reports for internal stakeholders such as Finance and HR.
  5. Prepare payroll reports for state compliance and other required submissions.
  6. Partner with the Senior Payroll Director to review and interpret system reports to identify trends or anomalies.
  7. Verify and process various payroll transactions including adjustments and corrections.
  8. Review and reconcile time-off balances and time-tracking data.
  9. Reconcile approved hours to payroll systems.
  10. Enter non-standard pay elements such as bonuses, retro pay, and shift differentials.
  11. Review pre-process registers for payroll accuracy.
  12. Assist in resolving payroll-related employee inquiries.
  13. Utilize payroll systems for custom reporting and data extraction.
  14. Participate in regular team meetings and training sessions.
  15. Performs all duties in accordance with the agency’s policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or other related field and 3+ years of hands-on payroll experience in multi-state, high-volume environments.
  2. Experience with ADP Workforce Now and Enhanced Time and Attendance preferred or other equivalent enterprise-level payroll system.
  3. Experience working with payroll system reporting tools (e.g., ADP Report Writer or other custom report writer), preferred.
  4. Experience supporting a 500+ employee population, preferred.
  5. Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas) and familiarity with data imports to HRIS systems
  6. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  7. Ability to interpret and apply payroll regulations and policies
  8. Effective verbal and written communication skills
  9. High level of confidentiality and professionalism
  10. Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
