Overview

The Residential Program Director is responsible for the successful administration and management of the clinical, budgetary and business operations of the cluster of programs.  They serve as interdisciplinary team coordinator for residents and their families and facilitates the delivery of quality, appropriate services to residents according to MassHealth, SHIP, DDS, waiver programs and agency requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for overall fiscal responsibility for the sites; including the safeguard of residents’ monetary funds.
  • Manage and streamline administrative processes and requirements in consultation with affiliated senior managers or designees including but not limited to Fiscal Services, Human Resources, Information Services, Housing, and Maintenance functions.
  • Assign and monitor scheduling of staff to ensure program coverage, and budget compliance.
  • Ensure that staff receives appropriate certifications and training to perform duties adequately.
  • Responsible for supervision and evaluation of Residential Program Supervisors and SLP Residential Program Directors.  
  • Participate in admission process of residents and develops discharge plans as part of an interdisciplinary team, to include intake, psychosocial assessments, and development of appropriate resident services.
  • Assist residents in coordination with clinical services with psychosocial issues and aids as appropriate.
  • Support training and implementation of behavior plans in conjunction with the clinical services team and involved stakeholders.
  • Support and train managers/directors on service planning and other meetings with residents, guardians and/or family members a minimum of once annually according to program funding requirements.
  • Support and train managers/directors on all documentation in accordance with funding requirements and Agency/program established deadlines.
  • Assist with the development, review, updates, revisions and enforcement of policies and procedures for the program in accordance with funding and Advocates’ policy and procedures.
  • Monitor the up keep of the program site.  Ensure program meets safety and cleanliness standards in conjunction with program leadership and facilities.
  • Lead/co-lead program and staff meetings for the purpose of education, skill growth, program planning, evaluating resident care, and improving program functioning.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation through 24 hour availability for consultation and emergency crisis intervention.
  • Attend assigned trainings and maintain necessary certifications and licenses (CPR/First Aid, Crisis Management, MAP).
  • Drives residents in Advocates vehicles, including wheelchair lift-equipped vans as well as in personal vehicle.
  • Supports programmatic needs in absence of program manager or director.
  • Completes training to become a trainer in at least 1 core agency training curriculum.
  • Ensure that individuals we support are treated with dignity and respect in accordance with Advocates’ Human Rights policy and the Advocates Way philosophy
  •  Attend and actively participates in supervisions and staff meetings.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with the agency’s policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree with 5 years’ experience or Master’s Degree with 3 years’ experience in counseling, education, social work or related field. 1-2 years supervisory and/or teaching experience required.
  2. Strongly prefer that a candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of and competence in serving culturally diverse populations.
  3. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with a variety of individuals, including residents, family members, team, physicians, community agencies, government organizations, funding sources.
  4. High energy level, superior interpersonal skills and ability to function in a team atmosphere.
  5. Working knowledge of Social Security, Medicaid, Medicare, SHIP, community resources and waiver programs.
  6. Strong analytical, numerical and reasoning abilities.
  7. Ability to execute a variety of decision-making models. Ability to demonstrate superior problem solving skills.
  8. Ability to set priorities and handle multiple simultaneous tasks, organizing, prioritizing, planning, sequencing and completing tasks independently.
  9. Ability to understand, speak, read and write fluent English.
  10. Strong computer knowledge.  Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
  11. Must have a valid driver’s license and access to an operational and insured vehicle in addition to willingness to use it to transport residents.
  12. Must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
