Recovery Coaches are fully integrated team members who identify as a former recipient of recovery services and now use that experience to provide individual and group support to people receiving services from Advocates’ Behavioral Health Services.   Recovery Coaches approach their work with hope, promote self-determination, and assist in connecting people to resources, supports and opportunities in the larger community outside of the mental health system. Recovery Coaches provide expertise and consultation to the entire Division to help create a culture in which the point of view and preferences of each person we support are recognized, understood, respected, honored, validated and integrated into all services, support, treatment, rehabilitation and community recovery activities.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate flexibility, creativity and comfort in working with individuals and families with a broad range of diagnoses and emotional issues.
  • Develop working relationships with collateral resources and community service providers.
  • Be aware of diverse cultures and belief systems; willing to be flexible and examine one’s own cultural biases; and ensure that work with youth/family members and community representatives is done within a cultural context.
  • Develop creative and proactive approaches to individuals’ and families’ crisis patterns and help address their problems before they develop into crises.
  • Develop a healthy working relationship with other collaterals and community resources involved with individuals and families.
  • Work flexible hours which may include evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Involve outside providers in a collaborative effort to implement treatment strategies that respond to individuals’ and families’ needs.
  • Assist individuals and families in locating and obtaining community-based services and conducting self-advocacy.
  • Assist and support individuals in their individual recovery.

Qualifications

  • BSAS-approved Recovery Coach Training Certification
  • Lived experience is required for this position. 
  • Current driver's license, proper auto insurance coverage, reliable transportation, and ability to travel within the community
  • Must become First Aid/CPR certified if not currently.
  • Access to personal cell phone
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, which will include evenings and weekends, as needed
