Advocates’ Day Habilitation Services offer a variety of therapeutic, recreational activities to enhance the lives of those supported. Through curriculum designed to foster both developmental and recreational growth, our day habilitation team focuses on sensory integration, communication, community participation, health and wellness, relationships, safety, and recreation. We also provide on-site clinical services including nursing and behavioral, occupational, physical, and speech therapies.

 

The Director of Day Habilitation Services is responsible for the administration and leadership of four sited Day Habilitation programs in the Metrowest and greater Worcester areas.  The locations of the 4 Day Hab programs include Franklin, Plainville, Millbury and Sterling.  The Director will build and design a structure to support each program.  The Director will work closely with program managers, clinicians, and nursing teams to design and implement day habilitation programming.  They will ensure recreational and therapeutic services are in place to meet the identified needs of individuals served while focusing on quality of life and the health and safety needs of all those supported.  This candidate must be team oriented with a focus on modeling and mentoring of services to each day habilitation program.  The candidate will design curriculums and program activities that will be implemented throughout.  Working alongside a team of peers, this Director will oversee and train staff, while developing strong relationships with funders, families, and caregivers.  This position will have a designated office at one of the Day Hab programs, alongside space at all of the other Day Hab programs.

This position will require regular travel to Franklin, Millbury, Plainville and Sterling.

Responsibilities

  • Promote services through curriculum development and program activity schedules. Ensure all educational, recreational, and therapeutic supplies are available for programming.
  • Ensure continuous quality management of individualized programs and services through the use of both internal and community resources. 
  • Integrate Quality of Life and principles into individualized plans and program development.
  • Develop and implement creative program ideas and alternative therapeutic activities that foster individual’s empowerment and program satisfaction.
  • Travel to 4 sited day habilitation locations to ensure stability, leadership and team work.
  • Assist in the oversight of participant referral, intake and discharge procedures.
  • Oversee the implementation and development of individual service plans, ISP’s and annual reviews to ensure that services are delivered in accordance with the plans.  Attend annual reviews or program participant meetings as requested/needed.
  • Develop effective working partnerships and maintain open lines of communication with all referral sources to include, DDS, MRC, public schools, individuals supported, families, community programs and administrative team.
  • Ensure oversight, implementation, and training of all medical/clinical/behavior programming under the leadership and direction of the Healthcare Coordinator & Clinical Director.
  • Provide supervision, mentoring, professional development opportunities as well as training and support to all staff regarding job responsibilities, program development and services.
  • Ensure all billing is accurately completed and submitted in the required timelines.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with the agency’s policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field with at least 5 years working experience in a human/health services related field, with 2 years in a management role or a minimum of 10 years related working experience with 3 years in a management role
  • Strongly preferred candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of and competence in serving culturally diverse populations.
  • Must have strong computer knowledge.
  • Excellent written skills and ability to communicate effectively in the primary language of the program/programs to which assigned. 
  • Ability to execute a variety of decision-making models and to multi-task with frequently changing priorities.
